Cody Blue

So I'm not a big golfer. The last time I played was about three years ago. But yesterday I had the pleasure of playing in the Cody Blue Foundation charity golf tournament. Cody Pilkington lost his life on October 7 2005 in a fire at the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity house at NC State University. I work with Cody's mom Pam and wanted to help in any way I could and she wanted me to play golf so I said sign me up. Cody lived a straight edge life and was very intelligent attending the NC School of Math and Science his junior and senior years of high school. He did not consume alcohol or do drugs but did not judge those who did. Cody's life may have been saved on October 7th if he had had a smoke detector over his head when he laid down that night. The fraternity house that was off campus did not have a smoke detector in every room like building code says it should. The mission of the Cody Blue Foundation is to educate anyone and everyone about the importance of smoke detectors. They also give away scholarships to students attending NC State in the engineering field. They promote awareness to college students. Every college student has the right to have a smoke alarm over there head at night. If you have a child in college please make sure they have one in their dorm room or apartment. It just might save their life.

Cody's mom and brother.

Cody's grandpa. Doesn't he look spiffy?

Before the golfing kicked off they released 365 balloons to signify another year of Cody's life lost. As his mom said in a perfect world Cody would have graduated from NC State this year so they choose red balloons.

My team.
The winning team.
Before the tournament this guy was selected for a putt worth $5,000. Guess what? He sank it! He was very excited. Notice his golf club up in the air right above the tree.

True golf attire.
