Charleston

So my Mom and I went to Charleston, SC this past weekend for a little R &R. Charleston is probably by far one of my favorite places in the world. If you have never been I highly recommend it. Gorgeous old homes and lots of good cooking. I ate lots of crab dip, fried green tomatoes and shrimp.
This is Drayton Hall. This is the original house built in 1738. It has survived the American Revolution where the British used it as a command post. It withstood the Civil War b/c the good doctor had the idea to post smallpox signs all around the property and the Yankees did not want to take their chances and so it did not get burned like the other plantations in the area. It has also withstood an earthquake and many hurricanes. It is a sight to see.
I loved this old house. Another original plantation house dating back to before the Revolutionary War. Thomas Lynch Jr., a signer of the Declaration of Independence was born here.
We even ran into some pirates. But no ghost this time around.
